Never stop or change a medicine based on this site
Don’t stop, skip, or switch a medicine because of anything you read here. Ask your pharmacist or doctor first. They can help you look for a suitable dye-free option if one is available.
We don’t make health claims about dyes
We explain which color additives appear on labels and what the rules are. We don’t claim that any dye causes, or that avoiding dyes prevents or treats, any condition. The FDA says color additives are safe when used according to its regulations, while noting some evidence that certain children may be sensitive to them (FDA). If you have concerns about your child, talk with their doctor.
Labels change
Ingredient lists can change at any time, and different flavors, sizes, or manufacturers can have different ingredients. Always read the label on the product you have, and confirm with your pharmacist for medicines.
Allergies and reactions
If you think your child is having an allergic reaction, get medical help right away. In an emergency, call 911. For possible poisoning or accidental overdose, including too many gummy vitamins, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. You can report problems with medicines and dietary supplements to the FDA through MedWatch.
